Having an oil fired boiler serviced regularly can keep it operating at its most efficient. This reduces fuel bills and saves money on costly call-out fees for unexpected breakdowns. ECS recommends that oil fired appliances and equipment are serviced at least once a year or as recommended by the manufacturer.

Unvented water heaters are safe to use if installed and maintained correctly though an annual service.

Although underfloor heating is largely maintenance-free, regular servicing is highly recommended. It’s always better to regularly maintain a system to ensure it’s constantly running smoothly and efficiently. The number of manifolds you have is usually determined by how many controllable zones you have, but if you are unsure we can check before servicing.

Our engineer will carry out the following works on the service

  • Visually inspect the boiler and all associated pipes or areas (including your oil tank and supply pipe), to make sure that they comply with current safety regulations.
  • Inspect and clean out the flue.
  • Replace or clean the oil filters and oil nozzle.
  • Check for water in your oil tank.
  • Use a flue gas analyser to check combustion.
  • Check the supply pipe for any signs of leakage.
  • Remove the boiler casing and clean internal components (like the heat exchanger and burner).
  • Test all safety systems to make sure that they are functioning correctly (this includes any thermostats, pressure relief valves and burner lockout devices).
  • Ask if you have experienced any issues with the boiler.
  • Turn the boiler on to check that it is working correctly.
